SAT7
Mansourieh, Lebanon
Located in a suburb overlooking a panoramic valley, the 5,000 sqm television station houses four studios with elaborate operational services and technical support areas. It is conceived as a series of three independent volumes that step down with the slope.
The landscape filters through the various levels and interconnects the blocks through a circulation core — the connector — that is treated as an extension of the outdoors with the interior stair in the three-story atrium acting as a theatrical focal point. The materiality and volumetric language further accentuate the contrast between the heavy presence of the studios, with their blind facades and stone cladding, against the transparent glazed openness of the connector and open areas.
